About
Local artist Lis Layton (formerly Melissa Spurlock) first opened an art studio and gallery in Grants Pass, OR in June of 2013
Teaching after school kid classes to pay the bills, she also offered gallery space to local artists and heavily participated and was involved with the operations of the First Friday Art Walk (now called, Friday Night Live) pairing local artists with local businesses for the monthly event and started the official social media page for the event.
Not long after, Lis started the first permanent sip & paint in the Rogue Valley, calling it what it still is today, "Wine & Brush!"
These highly popular social wine and paint events started organically, when Lis first did a "mom's night out" class with the mothers of her students in the kid classes and it was a hit that quickly grew to once a month, then once a week, and more as attendees kept coming back and bringing more friends.
Lis opened a 2nd studio in Phoenix, OR in 2016 and ran both studios until 2020 when the pandemic forced her to shut one of them down.
The Phoenix studio is still in full operation for wine & paint classes.
